2016 - A year full of adventures

Wow, I am not sure where the last 365 days have gone, but 2016 has been a great year with some amazing adventures around the globe, meeting old and new friends, photographing at some of the most stunning locations, shaking lots of paws through out the year and of course long walk with my furry companions Porthos & Lucy Beagle.

Barkelona - A Dog Photography Adventure

Back in April, I jumped, not literally jumped :), on a jet plane and headed down to Barcelona to meet a group of the most awesome people ever. Barkelona was a trip organised by Nicole, Charlotte and Kaylee, three of the best Dog Photographers out there.

Meeting and photographing dogs in the beautiful sunny Spain and of course meeting 10 other like minded dog crazy peeps like myself. It was a blast and we all arrived back home, not only inspired and full of new ideas, but with new friends to share ideas with, like Josie and Cat, two fellow UK Dog Photographers. #barkarica2017 Back From Barcelona, Josie and myself met up with Kaylee for a Beagle crazy day in London. Porthos & Lucy spend the day in front of the camera of us three and we all got some very iconic London Dog Shots with The Beagles. Famous doggies :) .............................................................................................................................................................

Giving Back

As you all know, I am working together with the HULA Animal Rescue and the RSPCA Blackberry Farm since over 5 years and it is one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever done. It is an honour for me, to meet and to photograph these beautiful dogs, cats and bunnies, tell their stories and to help them find their loving new furever home. They all deserve so much love and both centres and their volunteers are doing such an amazing job for these animals.

In total, in 2016 I photographed for both rescues:

150 Dogs, 130 Cats and 45 Bunnies plus some pigs, chickens, ferrets, mice and even a turkey and I am so happy that most of them found a new furever home and could be with their new families for Santa Paws.

Bring your Dog to Work Day

I am very lucky to be able to have my dogs with my all day. They snoozing in my office, chasing up and down the stairs and greeting clients. Yes they do have a great life. Unfortunately not all offices are dog friendly, even as a lot of studies show, that a workplace shared with your furry companions, is a much better place to work. So I was very happy to be the official Bring your Dog to Work Day 2016, organised by Hownd and to promote this awesome event. We think Dogs should be allowed much more at work places, in cafe's, shopping centres and restaurants. Looking to mainland Europe, many countries support this and you really can share your life with your dogs, instead of leaving them at home, when popping to the post office or grabbing a coffee with a friends. Lots to do on this subject here in the UK, and we hope the BYDTWD is helping to open peoples eyes, how awesome dogs can be in an office environment. .............................................................................................................................................................

 Friends

2016, a year to meet old and new friends from around the globe.

Starting with Barkelona, meeting other dog crazy photographers from all corners of the world, connecting with some wonderful business owners here in the UK like The Huxley Hounds, Mabel & Mu, Dotty Dog Art and Wag'N Go to name a few, some famous faces - dog and human and meeting other Dog Bloggers like the lovey Sarah from Twilight Bark ...

But the most memorable day of 2016 happened in Cambodia, as I met, totally unplanned, my wonderful friend Ionara from Brazil. We met 2006 in Canada and keept in touch via Facebook ever since. And out of the blue, we both checked FB, on her last and on our first night in Cambodia and we both could not believe we were both here at the same time. So 10 min later we sat in a cafe in Siem Reap and chatted until the morning. So what are the chances to meet your friend on the other side of the world ... I would use the world fate in this case. It was fate to meet here at one of the most magical places on earth.

2016 was all about connecting, sharing ideas and supporting each other and I know 2017 will be amazing for all of us and I can not see where we all will go.

And of course meeting many super super cute and awesome furry new friends this year. Getting cuddles and kisses and this is why I LOVE my job every single day, even when I come home covered in mud from top to bottom. Being a professional Dog Photographer is the BEST job in the Word!  .............................................................................................................................................................

The Book

As you know I LOVE everything printed, photos, canvases, books ...

So you can imagine how excited I was, to finally see the Woburn Abbey Garden Book by Keir Davisdon. We started working on the book back in 2014 and so see the printed version with my photograph of the Abbey on the cover and many more photos inside, was just an amazing feeling .............................................................................................................................................................

Wild Animals

Just a couple of my wilder clients this year :) .............................................................................................................................................................

The Beagles

The Beagles, aka Porthos & Lucy, had an awesome year filled with lots of beagle-tastic adventures, with long walks in the woods, chasing balls on the beach, trips to the coast, stylish London walks, meeting some famous faces, being published on photos around the world, working hard as a dog model and a dog blogger, taking part on the Big Walkies, supporting BYDTWD 2016, being a pro location scouter and also cheese tester. So with this here is a big AWOOOF from Porthos & Lucy to 2016!    .............................................................................................................................................................

Around the World

" Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do, then by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the wind in your sails.

Explore. Dream. Discover. "

This is one of Mark Twains most famous quotes and since I was 18 I caught the travel bug and haven't exploring stopped since. There are countries I visited and there are countries which never left me and which will always be a part of myself.  And with 2016 being the Chinese Year of the Monkey, we decided to revisit one of the most exciting places on this earth - Hong Kong. I can honestly say, China touched my heart and my mind as I first visited and it will always have a special place in my heart and it will always feel like home to me. So 2016 bought us back to Hong Kong and I could tick off a couple of things on my Bucket List :) We also threw in a stop over to Cambodia, which is a magical place, full of wonders and history. And of course I did photograph dogs in Hong Kong and Cambodia. What can I say ... It is in my blood :)

And yes, call me a geek but I could not stop smiling as I finally got to visit NASA and see the Saturn V rocket, the Atlantis Space Shuttle and could see what we could achieve if everyone in the world would start work together, instead of playing political games and destroying our wonderful planet.

I also met Mickey Mouse at Disney - yes I am a big child .

2016 - 2017

So yes this was 2016, a year full of adventures and I can not wait to see what 2017 will bring for all of us.

I want to say a heartfelt Thank You to all of you for your amazing support in the last 12 month and I am so thankful to have met you and your amazing dogs, cats and horses.

And with this in mind, I am wishing you all a fantastic New Years Eve with all your loved ones and an amazing New Year 2017!

Happy New Year to you all!
